Sustainable Woodland Management

Based in rural Herefordshire, Whole Wood Designs have access to an abundance of rich and varied woodland and coppice which provides the raw materials for all yurt making and carpentry commissions.

Woodland management services include traditional coppicing and under-storey management, planting and layering, as well as felling, extracting and milling of larger hard and soft wood timber.  Additional products and services include hurdle making, hedge laying, traditional post and rail fencing and cleft deer fencing.

Whole Wood Designs offer a full mobile contract sawmilling service using their own Lucas mill. Wood can be sawn to order and supplies of milled sustainable hardwoods, softwoods, coppiced poles, hedging materials and firewood are also available.

The focus is on sustainable and low impact work, in close collaboration with the landowner, to maintain and restore woodland with minimum disturbance to fragile woodland ecosystems.
